"Fifth Seal Authors" 1730-1880
"The Teaching of Sanctification with clarity was restored". The Doctrines of
Repentance & Justification are preached with greater light from the word
of God. The Evening Light was only 150 years away.
Just as in the 4th Seal, man rule again was rejected.
"
Believe nothing they say, unless it is clearly confirmed by passages of
holy writ. Wholly reject whatsoever differs there from, whatever is not
confirmed thereby"
by
John Wesley
This time also was a
time of great sacrifice for individuals who sold all they had
for the Kingdom. We do not yet have all of the books that we
need to document this time in Church History but, these men
traveled across the globe by boat, traveled the land by
horseback and foot. John Wesley preached on an average from 2-3
messages per day. He would preach his first message at 5:00a.m.,
his second around 11:00 and then his third around 5:00 p.m. He
and his fellow Methodist were stoned, beaten, clubbed and hurt
by "Christians" of their day. They were thrown out of the
Reformed Churches for their beliefs because they were too
fanatical. John Wesley was used of God to bring a revival within
the hearts of the world in his time and to reaffirm the doctrine
of the Second Work of Grace. The sad reality is this! We say
that we are near the brink of Eternity. Some even believe that
they are the only hope for the entire world! Do we really
believe it? Will they stand up and judge us and our efforts to
win a lost a dying world as in comparison to what they were able
to accomplish on horseback?

"however Luther may affirm, that a revival of religion never lasts above
a generation, -- that is, thirty years; (whereas the present revival has
already continued above fifty;) or however prophets of evil may say,
"All will be at an end when the first instruments are removed." There
will then, very probably, be a great shaking; but I cannot induce myself
to think that God has wrought so glorious a work, to let it sink and die
away in a few years. No: I trust, this is only the beginning of a far
greater work; the dawn of "the latter day glory."

"I have now only a few words to add unto you, my brethren, who
are vulgarly called "Methodists." I never heard or read of any
considerable revival of religion which was not attended with a spirit of
reproving. I believe it cannot be otherwise; for what is faith, unless
it worketh by love? Thus it was in every part of England when the
present revival of religion began about fifty years ago: All the
subjects of that revival, -- all the Methodists, so called, in every
place, were reprovers of outward sin".

mountain; and increased more and more, till it had covered a

occasion of that illness (a fit of the stone) whereof Luther died; after
uttering these melancholy words: "I have spent my strength for nought!
Those who are called by my name, are, it is true, reformed in opinions
and modes of worship; but in their hearts and lives, in their tempers
and practice, they are not a jot better than the Papists!"

Entire Sanctification Adam Clark
"The whole design of
God was to restore man to his image, and raise him from the ruins of his
fall; in a word, to make him perfect; to blot out all his sins, purify
his soul, and fill him with all holiness, so that no unholy temper, evil
desire, or impure affection or passion shall either lodge or have any
being within him. This and this only is true religion, or Christian
perfection; and a less salvation than this would be dishonourable to the
sacrifice of Christ and the operation of the Holy Ghost.... Call it by
what name we please, it must imply the pardon of all transgression and
the removal of the whole body of sin and death.... This, then, is what I
plead for, pray for, and heartily recommend to all true believers, under
the name of Christian perfection."

Sinners in the Hand of An Angry God Jonathan Edwards
Your wickedness makes you as it were heavy as lead, and to
tend downwards with great weight and pressure towards hell; and if God
should let you go, you would immediately sink and swiftly descend and
plunge into the bottomless gulf, and your healthy constitution, and your
own care and prudence, and best contrivance, and all your righteousness,
would have no more influence to uphold you and keep you out of hell,
than a spider's web would have to stop a falling rock."

Pardon For The Greatest Sinners Jonathan Edwards
"Sin is
the very evil which he came into the world to remedy: therefore he will
not object to any man that he is very sinful. The more sinful he is, the
more need of Christ.–The sinfulness of man was the reason of Christ's
coming into the world; this is the very misery from which he came to
deliver men."
God Glorified In Man's Dependence Jonathan Edwards
"It
is a more glorious effect of power to make that holy that was so
depraved, and under the dominion of sin, than to confer holiness on that
which before had nothing of the contrary. It is a more glorious work of
power to rescue a soul out of the hands of the devil, and from the
powers of darkness, and to bring it into a state of salvation, than to
confer holiness where there was no prepossession or opposition."

The Vain Self-Flatteries of the Sinner
Jonathan Edwards
"Some
sinners flatter themselves that they are already converted. They sit
down and rest in a false hope, persuading themselves that all their sins
are pardoned; that God loves them; that they shall go to heaven when
they die; and that they need trouble themselves no more: Revelation iii.

Millions
The men who handed in this protest
did not wish to create a mere void.
If they disowned the creed

and threw off the yoke of Rome,
it was that they might plant a purer faith
and restore the government of a higher Law.
They replaced the authority of the Infallibility
with the authority of the Word of God.
The long and dismal obscuration of centuries
they dispelled,
that the twin stars of liberty and knowledge
might shine forth,
and that, conscience being unbound,
the intellect might awake
from its deep somnolence,
and human society, renewing its youth,
might, after its halt of a thousand years,
resume its march towards its high goal."
